Review of studies from the last 5 years

Science is constantly evolving, and the last five years have brought many exciting discoveries and breakthroughs in various fields. Let's take a look at some of the most important research from the past 5 years.

   Genetics and medicine

In the field of genetics and medicine, the last five years have brought many significant achievements. In 2017, researchers at Oregon Health and Science University in the US showed for the first time that CRISPR technology can be used to edit genes in human embryos. This technology has the potential to change our approach to treating many genetic diseases.

In 2019, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania published findings showing the effectiveness of a new drug, givlaari, in treating the rare genetic disease acute porphyria. The drug was later approved by the FDA, marking an important step in treating the disease.

   Neurology and Psychiatry

In the field of neurology and psychiatry, much research has focused on understanding and treating neurodegenerative diseases. In 2020, researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, found that specific sleep disorders are a strong early indicator of Parkinson's disease development, which could lead to earlier detection and treatment.

In psychiatry, research in recent years has focused on the effectiveness of psychedelics such as psilocybin (known as "magic mushrooms") in treating severe mental disorders such as depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. The results are promising, but more research is still needed.

   Climate and environment

In the field of climate and environment, much research is focused on understanding the effects of climate change. A study published in 2021 in the journal Nature Climate Change showed that the effects of climate change are already being felt around the world, affecting the health and well-being of millions of people.

Another study, published in 2020 in the journal Nature, showed that protecting 30% of the Earth's surface could prevent 70% of predicted species extinctions and absorb ⅓ of the excess CO2 in the atmosphere.

   Conclusions

The last five years have brought many breakthroughs and advances in science. These discoveries have the potential to change our approach to treating many diseases, understanding our planet and its climate, and understanding ourselves. This is an exciting time for science, and future discoveries will undoubtedly yield even more fascinating and perspective-changing results.
